Select the tabs below to view the schedule for each day of Family Weekend. The schedule is subject to change, and events may continue to be added. Family Weekend is similar to a conference, so attendees can choose to attend the events and activities of interest. Some events require advance registration and additional fees. Many of the free events included in the Family Weekend registration fee require a Family Weekend wristband for admittance; a wristband will be provided to each registered family member.

The shell indicates events/programs included in the Family Weekend registration fee (must have a Family Weekend wristband). There is no additional fee to participate. These events are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and some may reach capacity quickly.

Anytime Dining With Your Student
Any Resident Dining Hall on Campus
Pay at the door or use your student’s guest pass.
Join your student for an all-you-care-to-eat meal from a wide variety of stations with most of the dining options prepared right in front of you. Options in the different dining rooms range from made-to-order vegan options in a wok to create your own Mongolian Grill entrees; brick oven pizza to full salad bars; grills, comfort foods, and international choices; make your own waffles; desserts (made right here on campus), and much more. Choices change daily and are served all day long.

Depending on the dining plan your student chose, they have between 2 and 8 guest passes per semester--so maybe they will use them to treat you to brunch or dinner! For more information and to see the menu for the day, visit dining.umd.edu.

Families that registered for Family Weekend may pick up wristbands, event tickets (excluding football tickets), parking permits for Friday & Sunday, campus maps, and additional Family Weekend materials. Free short-term parking is available in the Union Lane Garage. Families must move vehicles to the designated lots for Family Weekend immediately following check-in.

Add some physical activity to your Family Weekend at the Eppley Recreation Center (ERC). Family Weekend registrants have access to the facility with a Family Weekend wristband. A photo ID is required for all guests 16 and older. Family members under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. An adult can sponsor up to three minors (under 18 years of age). Visit the Member Services desk for access to the facility.

When the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center opened in 2001, it was the largest single building ever built in Maryland, totaling 318,000 square feet. See how UMD researchers and students simulate deep space and lunar exploration for astronauts and robots in a giant water tank—the only one in the world at a university. The session will be repeated at 3:30 p.m.
NOTE: This building does not have an elevator, and access to the second floor is only via stairs. Individuals with mobility issues are advised not to participate in tours involving the upper floor, as it is not wheelchair accessible. Additionally, the building does not have air conditioning. It may become hot indoors during warm weather. Tours will enter through the high bay door (a large garage door) located on the road-facing side of the facility.

For over two decades, UMD students have traveled to the stunning coastline of Pompeii, Italy to unearth the ancient Roman villas of Stabiae, which were buried under feet of volcanic ash centuries ago. This exhibit showcases their excavation and documentation; an adjoining exhibit will highlight the many study abroad experiences offered to MAPP students each year.

The Family Weekend tradition is back again! Are you ready for the most entertaining BINGO experience ever? Six BINGO games, unbridled fun, outrageous musical numbers, great prizes, and much more. The fabulous Patti O'Furniture hosts the evening and features two special guest performers (and Bingo Verifying Divas). This is definitely not your grandma’s BINGO!
Each participant will receive one dabber and six BINGO sheets with six cards/sheet. Everyone will play six rounds of BINGO with six chances to win in each round. Additional BINGO sheets will be available for purchase onsite. 50/50 raffle tickets will also be sold throughout the evening, with the winning ticket drawn at the end of the event (must be present to win). 7th Annual 0.5K for Terp Essential Needs
McKeldin Mall (Outside Jimenez Hall)

Yes, you read that right! It's a 0.5K "run" for the rest of us. Participants will be led through some fun stretching exercises before meandering the 500-yard distance from McKeldin Library to the Miller Administration building. After enjoying 10 minutes of, um, "running" glory, the first 100 finishers will receive festive socks and everyone will receive a braggadocios bumper sticker. We'll even have a coffee and donut hydration station (hooray!) midway through the "race." So run, walk, skip, jump, or Prancercise... we don't care. It's all downhill from here!
It's for a great cause!
Proceeds from the "race" will benefit the Fostering Terp Success Program and the Campus Pantry to help address housing and food insecurity experienced by our Terps.

Note: while we would love for families to be able to stay and mingle, this is a dine-and-go event so we can maintain open seating and accommodate other families wanting to enjoy a meal.

What steps should all students take to prepare for the internship/job search given the uncertainty in the labor market? Allynn Powell, Director of the University Career Center, will address those questions and others in a 50-minute workshop on navigating the transition from college to career. The session is geared toward families who want to know more about the resources available to their students and how the career development process works. The first 30 attendees will receive University Career Center swag.

All Family Weekend participants are invited for an afternoon of good vibes and great company. Whether you’ve packed a picnic or pre-purchased barbecue tickets, come enjoy yard games, a live DJ, face painting, henna art, balloon animals, and more. Don’t forget to capture the moment at the Terp family photo booth. It’s the perfect way to unwind and connect with fellow Terp families. We hear there will also be a visit by Testudo! Cashless bar available.
Tickets for those wishing to eat from the barbecue buffet may be purchased in advance when you register for Family Weekend. Other food may be purchased at the Stamp Student Union Food Court and brought to McKeldin Mall.

Show your Terrapin Pride at SECU Stadium as Maryland takes on the Washington Huskies. Join Maryland Football as it spreads awareness about mental health. The team will wear green ribbon decals on their helmets, and mental health-focused resources will be shared throughout the game.
Thanks to a partnership with Maryland Athletics, Family Weekend registrants will have access to specially discounted tickets.
All football ticket purchases for Family Weekend registrants are made directly through Maryland Athletics. Instructions to purchase football tickets will be provided via email to families who register for Family Weekend.

Join your student for an all-you-care-to-eat meal from a wide variety of stations with most of the dining options prepared right in front of you. Options in the different dining rooms range from made-to-order vegan options in a wok to create your own Mongolian Grill entrees; brick oven pizza to full salad bars; grills, comfort foods, and international choices; make your own waffles; desserts (made right here on campus), and much more. Choices change daily and are served all day long.

Terps Against Hunger (TAH) is once again hosting its Family Weekend community service event. The student organization will bring together over 400 volunteers to package 100,000 meals for children and families in the DC Metro area.

Experience a Maryland-themed brunch featuring a carving station, an omelet station, and mouth-watering hot and cold buffet items. A la carte beverages will be available for purchase, including soft drinks, beer, and wine. All major credit cards accepted. Day-of seating, if available, will be $57.75 for adults/UMD students and $26.25 for youth 9 and under, plus 6% sales tax and 19% gratuity.
Seating
Most of the tables at Testudo's Family Brunch are communal and more than one family may be sitting at a large table. All members of your party will be at the same table. Unless the weather is very bad, we will have some outside communal tables available on the covered patio adjacent to the main dining room; please feel free to request outside seating on a first-come, first-served basis when you place your ticket order. If anyone in your party is immunocompromised and medically requires separate seating, we may be able to provide a minimal number of outside tables on a private covered patio for up to 8 guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Please indicate this requirement under Special Accommodations on the Family Weekend online registration form.
