There is an overall Family Weekend Registration Fee, as well as additional events requiring fees and/or advance registration. Families can create their own schedules and choose which events, sessions, and activities they would like to attend based on availability, interest, and budget.

*No add-ons, ticketed events, or refunds available. General registration will provide you access to the President’s Open House, Terp Family Festival & Tailgate, Eppley Recreation Center, driving range, climbing wall, TerpZone, sessions w/o advance registration, and more.
REGISTRATION FEE
Note: this fee is required to attend any part of Family Weekend, and each individual family member must be registered, including UMD students.
$30 per person for Adults
$25 for UMD students
$15 per person for Youth (ages 12 and under)
Registration fee includes the following:
- Wristband to provide access to Family Weekend events, educational sessions, and workshops
- President’s Open House and other college/school/program events
- Terp Family Festival and other family-friendly activities throughout the weekend
- Opportunity to purchase tickets to Family Weekend ticketed events
- Opportunity to purchase discounted tickets to the football game on Saturday, September 26
- Membership/access to the Eppley Recreation Center on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Family Weekend giveaway item (one per family)
Additionally, the registration fee covers the cost of Family Weekend online and onsite registration services, registration materials, facility rentals, staff, and service fees. Family Weekend is an independent and self-supported event for University of Maryland families and is not financed by the University of Maryland.
Due to the popularity of Family Weekend and limited space availability, certain events will sell out. Tickets to events are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and will be confirmed immediately upon completing the online registration form.
Football tickets and game day parking permits are issued electronically (via email) upon purchase.
ATTENDANCE GRANTS
The Family Weekend Attendance Grant is a need-based award that provides financial assistance to defray the expense of attending Family Weekend. The Grant provides funding for:
- General registration for up to six people, including any UMD students
- Tickets to the President's Open House
- BBQ Buffet tickets at the Terp Family Festival & Tailgate
- It does not cover football tickets or game day parking permits.
Attendance Grant applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 2.
ACCESSIBILITY & ACCOMODATIONS
Family Weekend will make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act as amended. If any member of your family requires accommodations, please state the request in the space indicated on the Family Weekend online registration form. Note: The University of Maryland does not provide wheelchairs.
Requests for sign language interpreters must be made no later than Wednesday, August 26.
Accessible parking and shuttles
Parking is available close to all facilities on campus for those vehicles displaying ADA accessible parking identification. For individuals without an ADA accessible license plate or placard, drop-off areas are available near most buildings utilized for Family Weekend. Shuttle-UM service is provided free of charge throughout the weekend for various locations around campus. Review additional information about accessible parking and guidelines on campus.
CHANGES, CANCELLATION, AND REFUND POLICY
You can make adjustments to your reservation or cancel specific events by accessing the Family Weekend online registration form using your Registration Code. Your unique Registration Code appears on the confirmation page after completing the online form and also appears on the confirmation you received via email. All changes and/or cancellations must be completed by 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Cancellations received by 11:59 ET on Wednesday, September 9, will receive a refund, with the exception of the following:
- T-shirts are not refundable after Wednesday, August 26.
- Donations are non-refundable.
- Terrapin Club Membership is non-refundable.
Eligible refunds will be posted to the credit card used for the original transaction within 14 days of your request.
Requests to cancel your entire Family Weekend registration will be refunded, less a $30 processing fee. If you wish to cancel your entire Family Weekend registration, please email familyweekend@umd.edu and include both your Registration Code and your name as found in your confirmation email. We are unable to refund payments for requests received after 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 9.
The University of Maryland reserves the right to modify, limit, and cancel any Family Weekend event, in whole or in part, in case of an insufficient number of participants, unanticipated administrative needs, force majeure, or other unforeseeable events, including a potential or significant threat or risk to the public health or safety of UMD personnel, students, or the public. The Office of Family Engagement shall immediately inform participants of such changes.
Should an event be canceled, the Office of Family Engagement will refund the event ticket fee(s) in full. UMD shall not be responsible for costs, expenses, or other consequential damages incurred by Family Weekend registrants resulting from any such cancellation, delay, or change in location, programming, or performance. This applies to compensation claims for any non-refundable travel, accommodation costs, or other expenses incurred as a result of registration for, attendance at, non-attendance at, or cancellation of any Family Weekend event.
PARKING PERMITS
Families registered for Family Weekend will receive a Family Weekend parking permit and parking map when they check in at the Family Weekend Welcome Center. This parking permit is valid for Friday, September 25, and Sunday, September 27 ONLY. Guests must use the designated lots for Family Weekend.
Family Weekend and visitor parking are not available on Saturday, September 26, due to the football game. Families wishing to park on campus on Saturday must purchase a game day parking permit (regardless of attendance at the football game). Game day parking details and permits are available for purchase online directly from the Department of Transportation Services (DOTS). Start your Family Weekend at the Family Weekend Welcome Center, located in the Atrium (First Floor) at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, where you can pick up your Family Weekend wristbands, event tickets, Family Weekend parking permits, and t-shirts.
